Jaime Alguersuari has won a F3 championship many F1 drivers have used that route, but to jump directly into F1 cant think of one. The two I mention have experienced international pressure and have a worldwide fan base who would bring far more supporters to F1 than an as yet, unknown Spaniard

The car is more important than the driver 75% car 25% driver

Technically Jaime is now in the World Series by Renault, exactly in the same team where Vettel jumped from.

The quality of a sport as espectacle starts in the sportmen and end up in the fans and that's how it should be, not the other way around.

I don't care if Loeb has a lot of fans or if Piquet has or had also a fanbase made due his surname. I want that all the drivers that jump to F1 is because of pure talent. And while Loeb success and talent in F1 is still unproved and a simple "guess", Jaime has proved already to have a huge big talent for F1.

As I said, I don't think Red Bull are famous for making wrong decisions, and look at who's the guy ruling Red Bull.

The only problem I'm seeing here is that he's Spaniard, one can clearly grasp that in Vanwall's words.

We are talking about drivers who will be high profile, internationally known of interest to the public. Who is this unknown Spaniard ??

I fully agree, the drama and entertainment brought to F1 with these 2 drivers will do more for the sport then 2 new guys, also if Rossi starts to win, and does well, then it would make a very exciting situation.

Life after Schumacher, interesting.

I believe Raikonnen came from being a British Renault 2000 Champion, to a F1 driver, skipping the F3 route.

No. The reserve driver is Jaime. I doubd Red Bull would chose Brendan Hartley over Jaime when Jaime has beat Brendan solidly.

I don't think he did flop, although admitedly he did not shine - which is necessary if you want to leave a mark and progress upwards

Loeb would be a super coup for the sport, and for the motorsport world in general. I have a gut feeling he'd impress many

How can you settle for a safe third or something, because it’s four points? Jesus, people like that should be accountants, not racing drivers.” Gilles Villeneuve

Not to be, Repsol have come up with the cash and Adam's new hero gets the chance.

That's a pity

Loeb would not have dropped his WRC drive all of a sudden, IMO

Please, could you be a bit more matture and stop using those kind of provocative personal words?

That people support drivers that you dislike or refuse to come to F1 doesn't mean we make them our heroes.

And don't imply the only reason why Jaime Bhajkshf is coming to F1 is because of sponsors. Red Bull has clear plans of getting very talented and young drivers, just like happened with Vettel. And Jaime is a quite talented driver, very young. I guess Red Bull will sit him there to learn and develop himself in this sport. It's a quite good strategy for the team and good for the sport to bring new young talents with future to the sport.

Loeb "shining" is just and unproved statement, just a guess, and still he's 35 yrs old so it is not a safe bet. Not the first time people get wet guessing that someone from IRL, Champcar or anyother non-F1 based motorsport would shine but in the end they failed even given the chance.

Loeb would only be like a piece of merchandising, too sad, because we supposely want F1 to improve in quality and not in a bigger circus.

Adam, could you try to contact Van via private messaging service, I don't think anyone is interested to read your study that someone Spanish is worth to drive in f1 more than Loeb because he is a Spanish. If it is not so, then why don't you mention hundreds of other youngsters who are on the radar as well etc.

Everyting's been said what's needed to be said, so now ... off

Roll Eyes

You really have to grow up. And yeah, go OFF, mainly because you have nothing smart to say but pure bashing and insults as you always do.

And ignoring your childish and unbased first part of your post, F1 has limited seats. Of course there are a lot of young people but it is impossible all of them get a chance. And specially because the seats in F1 are limited and there are a lot of young people in the radar, why giving the seat to an old guy only because he will bring out more fans to F1. As I said it would have been very sad if we had missed Vettel because Loeb had taken his seat.

The only problem here is that since Jaime is Spanish, some people here don't want him to get a chance. If he was german, I guess the story in this forum (that used to be very anti-Alonso btw) would be quite different.

I remember that according to the experts here Alonso was a mediocre and average driver that would fail.

I'd like to know anyway why NeoBaltic and Vanwall has to go to personal provocations when someone disagree with them. That really proves who are really wrong here.
