Waiting list

It might not be the best season for the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro, but the possibility to drive one of the Reds must be very appetising, at least when one considers the number of drivers, who have been brought up by the media and the fans and even by some of the drivers themselves as candidates for Felipe Massa’s F60 number 3, without even considering some suggestions from the afterworld…

The list is so long that almost every letter in the alphabet has a corresponding driver…but let’s see the details:

A as in Fernando Alonso

B as in Jules Bianchi, Mirko Bortolotti and Sebastien Bourdais

C as in David Coulthard

D as in Anthony Davidson

F as in Giancarlo Fisichella and Luca Filippi

G as in Marc Gené

H as in Nico Hulkenberg

K as in Robert Kubica

L as in André Lotterer and Vitantonio Liuzzi

P as in Nelson Piquet (Jr.) and Giorgio Pantano

R as in Valentino Rossi and Davide Rigon

S as in Takuma Sato and Bruno Senna

T as in Jarno Trulli

V as in Jos Verstappen

Before anyone feels offended we want to underline that we have the highest respect for all of these drivers and we apologise also in the name of those who brought up their names to those who haven’t been mentioned, like Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button, but there’s always time for some fresh ideas.

Given the opportunity, would you pass up the chance to sit in Massa's car and race at Monza??Big Grin

All depends on how Felipe's medical goes. If he's likely to be back before the end of the season then the incentive to make any dramatic changes is minimal - they'll either keep it in-house or give it to someone who will become in-house as either an up-and-coming or slightly-past-it test driver. Long term I can see this incident bringing about a change in Ferrari's test driver policy particularly if in-season testing remains banned. Badoer and Gene may be very solid and reliable when it comes to development work but the danger of not having a capable reserve driver on the books has now been shown.

It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

This what I mentioned in another thread hlz, Ferrari have really fallen behind other teams when it comes to developing their own young drivers. Saying that, and with the continuation of no in-season testing, having someone like Fisi as your test/reserve driver or a proven youngster is fast becoming a necessity for Ferrari. Although we do not know what Gene would have done with the opportunity, we do realize how many people want to drive for Ferrari!!

You don't need to develop youngsters when you can buy nearly anyone who is ever on the market, and perhaps even those who nominally are not

Would they want to nurture a home-made Lulu? No

This is partly true neo but they still should be a team that develops from within. Between being able to buy just about anyone, they certainly are not short of drivers wanting to drive for them.

That list I think it was done with humouristic sense taking press' rumours, rather than some of those drivers really wanting to drive for Ferrari.

Just to pick one example, Alonso never ever said he wanted to drive for Ferrari. He says and always said that he wants to be in a competitive team, just. Of course if you quote his words while especulating about Alonso going to Ferrari, one could give the impression that Alonso wants to drive for Ferrari. But he never said exactly that.

Adam, where do you think Alonso will be next year? Santander are going to sponsor Ferrari from next year and the deal includes Alonso, of which Santander will pay his salary. It is quite possible we will hear that news at the next race, but if Alonso could move now you think he wouldn't?

I read that Santander is going to switch to Ferraris, yes, but the rest must be just unconfirmed by either party talk?

"Santander are going to sponsor Ferrari from next year and the deal includes Alonso, of which Santander will pay his salary".

if santander do pay Alonso, Ferrari will be laughing!

I wish Felipe Massa all the best and a speedy recovery!

Well, looking at Renault's and Ferrari's current forms, I guess he would accept, but rather than because of being Ferrari, it would be IMO because Ferrari sooner or later gives you a competitive car.
