How will Schumacher do this year assuming he has a competitive car ?

I think he will be competitive for the first half of the race but will he find the final laps difficult , against the super fit Vettels Hamiltons and even the ageing Webber. His acknowledged neck injury could come into play.

Now we know he was super aggressive when he raced last ,but times have changed since he retired and stewards are far more likely to dish out penalties for forceful driving as Hamilton has found out.

If Rubens can MS can also, unless his neck is not well enough. But the Mercedes may make him struggle.

I don't think fitness will be that much of an issue, barring any neck problems. Schmaucher (don't know if that was a typo or intentional Van, but I intend to call him that from now on!) took fitness within F1 to new levels and suspect that he will still be fitter than many of his younger rivals - Kubica for example, as good as he is and as relatively fit as he must be, never looks particularly healthy after a race.

I think it may be 3 or 4 weekends until we see Schmaucher race fit but that's only to be expected of someone who hasn't raced competitively in so long. Massa may even be similarly effected in the first few races.

There is nothing wrong with the neck. He'll just use it as an excuse.

He was man enough to get the Merc drive, so I assume he won't come up with any excuses with his neck. If he does, I'll then express my feelings......

Give him a break, guys. The injury to his neck prevented him from replacing Massa last season and having his doctor there in the first test is a precaution. Why should there be any excuses?

Because,.. His neck was ok for a return until he was stopped from illegal testing. Then he suddenly chickened out blaming the neck. After a few months the neck was in perfect shape again..

We will soon know whether he is the old Schumacher, fast, aggressive ,not wanting competiion from his team mate , prone to cheating.

Come on give the guy a chance to prove he is a nice guy after all.

You know that's not the case, 911. Wink

We know how much he wanted to drive last season and the neck problem was a huge setback after all the preparations he did. Anyway he's fine know and we'll have (for the first time, four WDC's) competing against each other.

Think it'll be an exciting season - let's just enjoy it. Wink Cool
