How does the scoring work?

Games

A player must win four points to win a game, and be at least two points clear of their opponent. However it is not scored 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, but love, 15, 30, 40, game.

If both players reach 40 then this is called 'deuce'. From deuce, the player who wins the next point is said to have the 'advantage', they must also then win the following point to win the game, otherwise it goes back to deuce.

Sets

A player must win six games to win a set, and be at least two games clear of their opponent.

If the set reaches six games each then a tie-break is played. A player wins the tie-break if they reach seven points, however they must also be two points clear of their opponent. If they reach six points each then the first player to win two points in a row wins.

Match

For men a match consists of the best of five sets (first to win three), and for women the best of three.
